Elizabeth A. Gerbel - Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Elizabeth Gerbel is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of E.A.G. Services, Inc., a Houston-based company that works with energy companies to increase operational efficiencies through business process and information system improvements. In addition to Elizabeth’s leadership position, she also manages the business development and sales activities within the firm.
Prior to founding E.A.G. Services in 2003, Elizabeth was a partner with McKinley Powell, LLC and co-wrote the McKinley Powell Oil & Gas Accounting Software Report, which compared 14 different E&P systems across all functional areas. Her software selection methodology and consulting services have allowed numerous companies to quickly reach informed software purchase decisions.
During her career, Elizabeth has managed large ERP implementations as part of the Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) Oil & Gas practice and PricewaterhouseCoopers' Management Consulting group. Elizabeth has over 10 years of experience leading data conversion, prototyping, development, testing, cutover and post-production support teams. She has developed significant expertise in business process analysis and financial system implementations, and has experience developing IT strategies for Fortune 500 companies as well as for smaller businesses. Elizabeth has a master’s degree in Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
J. Benton (Ben) Mayberry – President
Ben Mayberry is the president of E.A.G. Services, Inc. Ben has significant experience managing consulting companies and creating value for energy clients. In addition to his role at EAG Services, Mr. Mayberry is also a principal in Winston Sage Partners, a business management and consulting company that advises entrepreneurs and service-oriented businesses.
Ben has been a principal in several successful technology startups, including the growth and sale of two systems integration companies, BSG Corp and Align Solutions. He has also managed the M &A process for several other companies, and advised many technology startups through various stages of development. In addition to his consulting roles, Ben owns and operates a ranch in the Hill Country, with a successful commercial whitetail breeding operation, and is co-owner of a 555 acre sod farm.
His education includes a B.A. from Rice University in Mathematical Sciences in 1973, and a Masters in Accountancy from the Jones Business School of Rice University in 1976.
Ben is a past President of the Houston Angel Network. He has held various board and advisory board positions for privately held entities, and is a past President of the Jones Business School Alumni Association and Jones School Partners (Rice University). He is currently an adjunct professor at the Jones School of Business. He is married, with one daughter.
Eileen Birge - Director
Eileen has more than 25 years of experience in the implementation of information systems including nine years in the oil and gas industry--where she worked on projects as diverse as:
- Developing a capital budget process that incorporated political risk assessment into project selection
- Creating and implementing a systems plan for a newly formed company founded by the consolidation of more than 40 oil and gas partnerships.
- Developing a system to enable cross-company comparisons of reserves, finding costs and development costs.
In additional to her significant IT experience, Eileen’s responsibilities have included directly managing accounting, finance, human resources, and facilities. She has also taught management courses at the college level. Most recently in her career, Eileen has focused on addressing the human factors so critical to project success. Her publications include: Succeeding with Shared Services, Implementing a Performance Scorecard for IT, and the Role of Human Resources in a Technology Driven Environment.
As a member of E.A.G. Services’ executive team, Eileen has overall responsibility for EAG’s staff development programs and client training projects.
Eileen holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Eileen was recently appointed by the Secretary of the Treasury to serve on the Taxpayer Advocacy Council for the Internal Revenue Service. She is married with two children.
Darrel Hardy - Director
Darrel has more than 25 years of oil and gas experience both as an accounting and administrative executive as well as providing leadership through various information technology roles. In additional to his significant IT experience, Darrel’s responsibilities have included directly managing accounting, finance, human resources, land administration, division orders, records management, oil marketing and general office administration. This experience has provided Darrel with a unique perspective to provide value through his ability to evaluate, design and implement more efficient business processes to better leverage existing technologies or adapt to newly implemented solutions across all functions of an upstream oil and gas company. In addition to his business experience, Darrel has 20+ years building his expertise by serving many different roles within IT including managing business and application support personnel, data warehousing, content and document management, workflow automation, integration services and application development. Darrel has led multiple implementations of new ERP, Human Resources, and Land Management systems for a variety of companies. Additional roles of significance include corporate architect for corporate and administrative systems and providing leadership as the lead IT representative on a core team responsible for merging two fortune 500 multi-billion dollar upstream companies by rationalizing their applications, evaluating each company’s business processes and designing and implementing a common set of applications and business processes across the newly combined entities.
As a member of E.A.G. Services’ executive team, Darrel provides industry expertise across many functional areas, serves as a project manager and consultant for internal and external projects. In addition, he delivers training to clients and internal staff on back office systems and functions of upstream oil and gas companies.
Darrel is a Certified Public Accountant with Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University. Darrel has a Process Master certification from Hammer and Company, Boston, MA and has completed the leadership development course from the Center of Creative Leadership based in Greensboro, NC. Darrel is an active supporter of Allied Arts, United Way, his local church and Lyric Theater where he and his wife enjoy watching their daughter, Chandler, perform in music theater productions.
Intara Umpuch - Director
Intara brings over 13 years of consulting experience ranging from custom application development to ERP systems implementation to strategic process improvement programs to EAG Services. His industry experiences have been predominantly in the energy industry with over 8 years in upstream oil and gas. His experiences also include work in the retail and government sector. Intara also brings entrepreneurial skills and experiences having founded and operated a profitable and successful IT consulting services practice over the past 6 years. Those experiences allow EAG to highly leverage Intara in a variety of capacities ranging from managing projects to recruiting to business development to managing client accounts to helping define internal operations. He also brings highly technical experience having been in an Enterprise Architect role for a client.
Intara has a dual degree BA/BS in Architecture/Architectural Engineering with a focus on project management from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. (Interestingly, though not directly related to systems, the technical fundamentals and the methods based approach of managing and executing delivery of construction projects were directly applicable and leverage able in systems implementation.)
Intara began his consulting career with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) in 1994. He started his consulting business in 2001 during a period which saw limited consulting opportunities between the transition period of postY2K era and the dotcom busts. His career has consistently blended a balance of delivering process and technical solutions as well as having played execution and management roles in all phases of the software development and implementation lifecycle: assess, design, build, test, convert, deploy, support, audit. His oil and gas experiences includes both “front office” activities from land/lease management to geological prospecting to drilling and well operations as well as “back office” activities from production accounting to revenue accounting to ownership/DOI to A&D.
